Welcome to the Lolwe Academy!

Here, you will be able to attend creative writing courses led by some of the best African writers. The sessions will incorporate feedback, critical engagement and guidance on elements of craft given by established and experienced tutors. For the duration of the classes, masterclasses and workshops, we’ll ensure that maximum attention is given to each person’s work and that they achieve their set goals. The feedback will be tailored in an attentive way that caters to the needs of the writer and their work. All classes, masterclasses and workshops will be held online via Zoom, therefore giving everyone a chance to be a part of this creative experience. So whether you’re in Lagos or Windhoek, Nairobi or Dakar, Cairo or Bangui you’ll be able attend the classes and learn from your favourite authors.

By joining Lolwe Academy, you will benefit from a knowledgeable and diverse reader network where you can share your work and get feedback from people who are familiar with the African literary context. Our past participants will become part of our alumni community who will get an exclusive Submittable link to submit their writing to Lolwe. We will also curate a monthly newsletter with a list of publishing opportunities and share our alumni’s recent or forthcoming publications. Our team will also provide guidance and insight on how to navigate the publishing industry. We will also write letters of recommendation for our alumni so they can pursue further opportunities such as fellowships, residencies and MFA/MA.
