Short fiction is a form of writing that is brief, fast-paced, and intense. Despite its length, it should contain all the elements of a fully developed story, which include plot, setting, and character. These elements are essential to holding a reader’s attention long enough for them to complete a short story in one sitting.

In this class, you will learn how to experiment with the various elements of short fiction, develop precision in writing them, and create moving and brilliant short stories. The class is open to writers at all stages and will be taught by the award-winning writer ’Pemi Aguda, whose debut short story collection, Ghostroots, and novel, The Suicide Mothers, are forthcoming.
