Lolwe Poetry Programme
The Lolwe Poetry Programme is designed for poets who want to deepen their craft, expand their range and develop a sustained body of work across the year. Participants will study the essential elements of poetry — including voice, image, form, rhythm, line, sound, syntax, metaphor, sequence, structure and revision — alongside masterclasses exploring different approaches to poetic practice.
How the year works
Craft Masterclasses
Focused study of the elements that shape strong poetry, from line, image and sound to form, structure and revision.
Poetry Workshop
A general workshop for generating new poems, reading closely and developing work through sustained discussion and feedback.
Poetry Manuscript Workshop
A more focused workshop for poets developing a sequence, pamphlet or full collection, with attention to selection, order, coherence and the relationship between individual poems.
Develop Your Work
Use the year to generate new poems, revise existing work and shape a stronger, more cohesive body of poetry, such as a chapbook or a poetry collection.
