LINGUAL
(Languages & Translation)
Lingual is Lolwe Academy’s space for working with, across, and within languages. It brings together language learning, translation, multilingual writing, and cross-language editorial practice, grounded in literary care and cultural context.
We support writers, translators, and readers who want to learn African languages, develop bilingual or multilingual work, or move texts between languages through careful literary translation. Language learning at Lingual is not approached as rote instruction, but as an engagement with language as lived practice, shaped by history, orature, literature, and everyday use.
Alongside translation and editorial guidance, Lingual offers pathways for learning African languages through reading, writing, conversation, and close engagement with texts. The emphasis is on building confidence, sensitivity, and understanding, rather than quick fluency or certification.
Lingual reflects Lolwe’s long-standing commitment to multilingual African and diasporic literature. It is a space for those who take language seriously, as craft, culture, and a site of encounter.
